On Friday we had the opportunity to hold two street preaching rallies in front of Atlanta's Lenox Mall and Centennial Olympic Park. It was the first time being on the street for some of those with us, but we could not have asked for a better day. We started at Lenox Mall around 11:30 a.m. and ended around 2:00 p.m. We then moved to Centennial Olympic Park where we preached until 5:00 p.m. The weather was pretty good considering that it's June in Georgia.
Since there is a good Jewish popluation near the mall, we held up an Israeli flag and passed out tracts showing that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. Because many Jewish people will not speak to "missionaries" in public or take tracts, we also held up signs giving our website address so that they could find out more information and contact us if they wanted.
When we got to the park we duplicated our previous effort. We put three or four on each corner to hold flags, banners, and to pass out tracts. As we were putting everything away, security for the park showed up and told us that we had to cross the street. They said that we were even free to use the bullhorn on the other three corners, just not in a state park. We politely told them that we were finished anyway. In all, we passed out hundreds of tracts and gave Hebrew/English New Testaments to two Jewish men, one of which was Israeli.
When I got home I found that we had already received a response from a Jewish man who saw our signs for the website. This will allow us to keep in touch for follow up. You can view photos of this event in our photo gallery. We will be back on the streets again on Monday. Please pray for us.
